Story

The Community Quilt for Palestine charity raffle is now live!

Our beautiful community quilt, made in solidarity with Palestine and Palestinians all over the world is complete! Now we’re raffling it off to raise vital funds for MAP - Medical Aid for Palestinians to support the extraordinary people of Gaza, who need our help and support now more than ever!

The Project

Our community Quilt For Palestine was initiated by several members of Sheffield Families For Gaza and has grown to encompass creators from across the globe! We invited people to stitch a square of solidarity, whether they were experienced sewers and artists or first-timers, and the response we received was overwhelmingly beautiful! Our quilt has been pieced together from 25 unique squares sent to us from all corners of the world… from the UK to France, China, and Canada. Each one represents an individual who sat for hours, mindfully stitching their love, grief and hope for the people of Gaza into the fabric of their piece. The result is a unique textile collaboration showcasing art and humanity through a variety of decorative techniques; from quilting, embroidery and applique to block printing, illustration and transfer.

We had more than 25 wonderful pieces sent to us and remain open for submissions and intend to assemble a second quilt with them all in the future, as we keep supporting Palestinian liberation and collectively keep raising our voices! We are deeply grateful for the time and effort given by the many beautiful souls that joined the project, and are SO very proud of the end result!

How the charity raffle works

Tickets / entries cost £5. You can enter as many times as you like. Enter by making a donation to this page. For example, £5 = 1 entry, £15 = 3 entries and so on. You can buy tickets for yourself, family and friends and surprise them with a special gift!

After the raffle closes a winner will be selected at random via an automated generator. We will be in touch with the winner to organise safe delivery of the precious quilt. It is essential that we have a name and email address so that we can contact the winner. You can enter anonymously, but make sure you tick ‘KEEP IN TOUCH’ when donating so we can access your contact details.

The charity raffle is open to everyone worldwide. Free shipping is guaranteed within the UK, and we might be in touch with you to split shipping if you live far away.

The Quilt

If you are lucky enough to win this beautiful quilt, please note that it is intended for wall display, due to the delicate nature of some of the materials used. It measures just over 55 inches / 140cm square. We have attached a quilt sleeve along the back so it can be easily and discreetly hung with a dowel/curtain rod.

Follow our Instagram page @QuiltForPalestine for the latest news about our fundraiser including plans to exhibit the quilt in Sheffield. You can also share the charity raffle using hashtag #quiltforpalestine

Our chosen charity

All funding from this quilt fundraiser will be directly donated to Medical Aid for Palestinians.

MAP's vision is a future where all Palestinians can access an effective, sustainable and locally-led system of healthcare, and the full realisation of their rights to health and dignity. Their programmes in the West Bank, Gaza, East Jerusalem, and Lebanon are designed and delivered by Palestinians, providing access to essential health services and building local knowledge and skills to address Palestinian health problems. In times of humanitarian emergency, MAP is ready to respond rapidly with aid and assistance. MAP is also committed to bearing witness to the injustices caused by occupation, displacement and conflict, speaking out in the UK and internationally, and ensuring Palestinian voices are heard at the highest levels, to press for the political and social barriers to Palestinian health and dignity to be addressed.

Since the ‘ceasefire’ in January 2025 MAP has been assessing the needs of people returning to northern Gaza and adapting their work to provide support. They have distributed thousands of gallons of drinking water and provided tent shelters to families. They have also been moving some of their medical points to northern Gaza, equipping a medical point along the route people are travelling, and supporting local hospitals to resume their operations.

Please share this page far and wide. Donate what you can, support and tell everyone you know about it! It’s these small actions, like making a quilt, that bring people together and that can make a big difference in the world. Together we stand united for human rights, against racism, apartheid and oppressive regimes!

Thank You!
