Story
I had never entered a running event before this campaign, so at the age of 68, I thought I'd give it a try. I had been on novice runs at the 5km distance around Sidmouth occasionally and so the 10km Great West Run (GWR) at Exeter on the 26th May seemed like a reasonable target. Devon Air Ambulance (DAA) do a great job and so it is a real pleasure to be running and fundraising for them.
I then agreed to run the DAA Fast Friday 10km race on Friday 29th March as an experiment. It produced a very pleasing personal best (PB) for me of 57:02 which gave me a good pointer for the GWR in May.
After the Fast Friday event I also agreed to run another 10km race for DAA at the RunPlymouth event on Sunday 28th April. This produced a new PB of 55:43 which surprised me as it was a hilly course. The question is, can I beat it again on the final 10km leg?
Devon Air Ambulance is the charitable trust which raises the funds to keep two emergency air ambulances flying and two critical care cars on the road, delivering enhanced and critical care across Devon and neighbouring counties.
They are proud to be independent of Government funding; Every penny raised is with thanks to the generosity of the communities, businesses and friends of Devon.
Thank you for your support - it really does save lives!
