Raise Awareness for Meningitis, 50km walk/jog in memory of Laura Jones💜
It has been 2 years since my sister Laura very suddenly passed away from meningitis in October 2021. It left a big hole in our lives and was such a sad, heartbreaking time for us all. She passed away at just 33 and when she was diagnosed by paramedics she did not have a rash, which is one of the main signs of meningitis. This made us realise that a rash is not always a symptom, it can just be cold hands and feet, headache, fever and sickness.
My sister passed away within the same day of symptoms developing in the early hours of the morning. My sister was an absolutely incredible women, confident bubbly and loving, she had a pure heart of gold. Always cared for others and put everyone else before herself. She left behind 2 young children that absolutely adored her. It’s been 2 years since her death and I am still aiming to raise as much awareness for meningitis as possible in memory of Laura. I want to raise more than £1000 for meningitis and thanks to family and friends last year for all their love, support and donations I managed to raise an amazing £645.
I want to not only support victims but also support families and people going through bereavement.I want a world without meningitis and for this to happen I want to support further research in order to find a vital cure and stop meningitis spreading any further. But most of all I want to raise awareness so people know the signs and symptoms to look out for. To know a rash is not always there and to recognize sooner when to call an ambulance as meningitis shares similar symptoms of the common cold or flu.
Any donations towards Meningitis Now would mean the world to me and my family. Together we can make a difference and raise awareness of Meningitis. 💜🤍🦋
Thank you for supporting Meningitis Now. Our vision is a future where no one in the UK loses their life to meningitis and everyone affected gets the support they need to rebuild their lives.
