Story
Imagine if everything you saw was out of focus, how would your life be affected? Now imagine if you were homeless and couldn’t see……
The majority of homeless and vulnerable people are not in receipt of financial benefits, so are not eligible for an NHS eye examination and voucher towards their spectacles. For the few that are, not many practices will make spectacles totally free of charge, and even a small charge may be unmanageable. VCHP provides a fully comprehensive high-quality service totally free of charge even to the remaining majority of homeless people who do not receive benefits.
As many of you know I work for Specsavers and VCHP is a charity that is very close to us. As a team we pledged to support our partner charities by volunteering at clinics, but I'm taking it a few steps further and in April 2026, I will be taking on the huge challenge of running the London Landmarks Half Marathon for this incredible cause.
The difference it will make:
£ 10 Will pay for a course of eye drops
£ 25 Pays for a sight test in one of our clinics
£ 50 Pays for a pair of prescription glasses
£ 100 Goes towards the monthly running costs of one of our city centre clinics
£ 1,000 Will help fund the development of a new city centre clinic
So please give whatever you can to preserve, protect and promote the ocular health of homeless and vulnerable people in the UK.
