The Wingwalk is done… now it's his turn! 🏃♂️
After spending the summer preparing for and completing my Wingwalk, I'm officially handing over the fundraising baton to my husband Aidan.
I've done my bit from the sky, and now he's decided that turning 50 is the perfect excuse to take on a 51.5km ultra marathon along the Suffolk coast. Because apparently one of us doing something completely ridiculous for charity wasn't enough! 😂
On Saturday 12th September, he'll be taking on the Suffolk Coastal Path 50K, running from Lowestoft to Aldeburgh, and raising money for Crohn's & Colitis UK along the way.
But there's a reason we're both doing these challenges, and it all comes back to Simon...
This one's for Simon ❤️
My cousin Simon sadly died aged just 47.
He lived with Crohn's Disease, and losing him has made us want to do something positive in his memory and help raise awareness and money for Crohn’s & Colitis UK, supporting people living with these conditions and helping fund research into better treatments and, ultimately, a cure.
We've called our fundraising challenge 50 for 50.
The challenge began on what would have been Simon's 50th birthday, and will run until I reach my own 50th birthday in November.
Now my husband has joined the 50 club too, he's decided to add his own 50 to the challenge by taking on 50K along the Suffolk coast.
So this isn't just about turning 50. It's about taking something that began with a birthday we should have been celebrating together, and using it to raise as much as we can for a charity that means so much to us.
It started as my own challenge to mark turning 50, but now that my husband has joined the 50 club, it seems only fair that he gets to put his 50 to good use too!
So while he's running 51.5km, we'll be thinking about the person we're doing it for.
50 years old.
50 kilometres.
For Simon. ❤️
If you can spare a few pounds, we'd be incredibly grateful for your support. Every donation will help us raise as much as possible for Crohn’s & Colitis UK and keep Simon's memory at the heart of what we're doing.
And if you see him somewhere along the Suffolk coast looking like he's questioning every life decision that led him there… give him a cheer! 😂
Thank you for supporting him, supporting the charity, and helping us turn something incredibly sad into something positive.
