Story
Our Drop-in is open three days a week at the Stephenson Centre in Kendal. It provides housing and benefits advice, hot meals, tea and coffee, clothing, blankets, shower and laundry facilities, internet access and referrals to other agencies.
Our advisors have a wealth of experience and put people at ease as they navigate complex situations. We run a Skills Café every Wednesday where everyone contributes, whether through a workshop, kitchen help or community activities. It finishes with a shared three-course lunch in our Learning Kitchen, where food becomes both nourishment and lesson. The café builds confidence, boosts employability, and strengthens the sense of community.
We have two mental health Drop-ins taking place every Monday. The Sew What? group for women offers crafting, stitching and a safe place to share confidences. The Conversation Café is a facilitated peer support group, which helps participants get to grips with the language of emotions and access 1 to 1 support.
I have recently gone through a mental health crisis, and am still receiving support to get well. I am so lucky to have a fantastic family, friends and have been able to access amazing professional support. Thank you all.
I can easily see how a downward spiral in mental health, could rapidly end in homelessness, along with multiple other issues for many less fortunate than myself.
Manna House services are critical. It is an amazing facility.
Please donate if you are able. Thank you ❤️
