Story

Hi everyone, my name is Rahan and this is why I’m running the High Performance London 10k & Half Marathon.

I was born into an ethnic minority family, and I never had the same opportunities as others. I faced many obstacles and hardships to succeed in my education. My family moved around a lot, from Liverpool to Manchester, and I had to constantly adapt to new environments and make new friends. It was lonely and stressful.

My parents did their best, but they didn’t know how to help me succeed. They didn’t have the knowledge or the resources to guide me. I struggled, I fought, and I failed many times. I felt like I was letting them down, and myself. It was heartbreaking and frustrating.

But I never gave up. I never lost hope. I always believed in myself and my potential. I always knew I was meant for more. I dug deep within myself and found the strength and courage to overcome the challenges. I learned from my mistakes and improved myself. I proved the critics wrong and achieved my version of success. All of this shaped me into who I am today.

I’m here to tell you about a cause that’s very close to my heart: the High-Performance Foundation.

The High-Performance Foundation is a charity that believes that every young person deserves a chance to write their own story and achieve their full potential. They help young people from all backgrounds to develop the emotional and social skills they need to overcome challenges, build resilience, and be kind to themselves. But they can't do it alone. They need our support to deliver two amazing programmes:

1. The first programme brings free resources into classrooms to teach young people how to cope with failure, bounce back from setbacks, and practice self-compassion.

2. The second programme supports vulnerable groups of young people who are not in mainstream education and who need this support more than most. They provide them with mentoring, coaching, and opportunities to discover their strengths and passions.

These programmes are life-changing for the young people who participate in them. They help them to grow in confidence, self-esteem, and happiness. They help them to realise that they have what it takes to succeed in life.

Today, 1/6 children aged 5-17 have a probable mental health disorder. More than 300,000 10-15 year olds in the UK are unhappy with their lives and children in poorer families are 3x more likely to have mental illness.

On Sunday 3rd March, I will be running the High-Performance London Half Marathon to raise money for the High-Performance Foundation. This is a cause that is very close to my heart because I know what it’s like to be a young person who needs support and guidance to achieve their dreams. I was once in their shoes, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without the help of people like you.

But I can’t do this alone. I need your help to make this happen. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will make a huge difference in the lives of these young people. You can donate by clicking on the link in my bio or in the comments. It only takes a few minutes, but it will have a lasting impact.

Please join me in supporting this amazing cause and help me to spread the word by sharing and reposting. This is a rare opportunity to make a positive change in the world. Together, we can help the High-Performance Foundation to empower young people to write their own stories and believe in themselves. As Helen Keller said, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” Let’s put the foundations in for a better future.

Thank you for your generosity and kindness. 🙏
