Story
Childhood and cancer. Two words that should never go together But every week, around five children in the UK lose their lives to cancer. Thats five families who are faced with the worst news possible. A child doesnt have to die from cancer for it to take their life. It can take away their childhood, their opportunities to learn and even to have children of their own one day.
Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) cares for children with the hardest to treat cancers. Were already pushing the boundaries. Pioneering research is underway to find the most effective treatments and cures, which give hope to children and their families. But these advances have outstripped GOSHs current cancer care facilities, and the hospital needs a new home to create breakthrough therapies which will benefit children all over the world.
Help us build the new Childrens Cancer Centre at GOSH and save more childrens lives - If you can help build it, you can help beat it.
> Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page. I am thrilled to share that GB Railfreight has committed to extending our partnership with Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) until the end of 2027. This partnership will play a crucial role in bringing to life a new children’s cancer centre, and we have set ourselves an ambitious goal of raising over £400,000 during this four-year journey. It’s a significant challenge, but with the passion, determination, and creativity of our incredible team, I believe we can achieve it.
Our aim is to raise £400,000 by the end of 2027 to fully fund a state-of-the-art early years classroom at GOSH. This classroom will transform the learning experience for young patients, providing them with a nurturing environment where they can thrive despite their medical challenges. Currently, GOSH educates over 1,300 pupils each year, aged between 5 and 19, and is rated Ofsted Outstanding. However, the existing facilities are outdated; our fundraising efforts will ensure that early years pupils receive the dedicated space they deserve.
We are literally laying down tracks for a brighter future for children battling cancer.
To support this cause further, we are excited to announce an event called 'Railfreight Rock,' which will take place on September 11th, 2025. We plan to host a gig at The Water Rats in Kings Cross where colleagues and friends will come together for one night only to create music and memories while raising funds for GOSH.
While our musical skills will be unpolished as practice-time is almost non existent —making it a real DIY affair—we are committed to making it an unforgettable evening mostly filled with laughter and camaraderie. We hope to gather as many colleagues, customers, and friends as possible for this special night out while raising vital funds for GOSH. Tickets will be priced at a minimum of £20 per person—a small price for such an impactful cause. If you donate here we will put your name down on the list for the night - plus ones are more than welcome.
I invite you to join us in this mission; your support can make all the difference in providing hope and healing for these brave children.
