Rameet Kaur is raising money for CI

Team: Her Planet Earth Japan Expedition 2026 Team

We know that human beings are totally dependent on nature — and that by saving nature, we’re saving ourselves. To that end, CI is helping to build a healthier, more prosperous and more productive planet. We do this through science, policy, and partnerships with countries, communities and companies. Over the years, CI has helped support 1,200 protected areas and interventions across 77 countries, safeguarding more than 601 million hectares of land, marine and coastal areas. Our work is moving entire societies toward a healthier, more sustainable development path — so that we don’t use up today what we’re going to need tomorrow. At CI, we don’t focus on one sector or one issue. And we’re not interested in short-term fixes. Instead, building upon a foundation of science, partnership and field work, we find global solutions to global problems. We measure success in human terms. Our ultimate goal is to protect the most fundamental things that nature provides to all of us: our food, our fresh water, our livelihoods and a stable climate. Nature doesn’t need people - people need nature.

Story

In October this year, i will be participating in a very special walk. A walk of 80 kilometers, over 7 days, across the remote and beautiful mountainous hinterland of Kyoto, along ancient trade routes to the Amanohashidate and the Sea of Japan. I'm joining an all-female team of 12 for this adventure, led by Her Planet Earth.

But this is no ordinary expedition. Through this, we aim to raise $50,000 USD in total for Conservation International and their seaweed projects in Fiji. A long time partner of Her Planet Earth, the focus of this CI project is to support the women who traditionally harvest this seaweed, locally known as sea grapes or nama. In partnership with these women, CI has committed to improve their income by investing in community facilities and capacity for seaweed processing, as well as providing training on food safety and post-harvest value addition. The key to building climate resilience is to support the women most affected by environmental change.

My personal goal is to raise $5000 USD for this project, with the support of my network, family and friends. Its my first time to participate in a project like this and I hope that you will join me in taking this first step by supporting the fund raise. Together we can make a difference in the lives and livelihoods of these women and help conserve this green bounty of nature. Thank you!
