Ray & Nicky's fundraiser for The Beer-Harris Memorial Trust (BHMT)

BHMT Welsh 3000s Challenge · 10 June 2023
Update: 11th June - what a challenge that was! It was magnificent, beautiful, stunning and very unforgiving terrain. We started at 3am on one of the hot eat days (26’C but completed:
The Snowdon Massif1. Crib Goch, 3028ft2. Garnedd Ugain, 3494ft3. Snowdon, 3559ftThe Glyderau4. Elidir Fawr, 3031ft5. Y Garn, 3106ft6. Glyder Fawr, 3284ft7. Glyder Fach, 3261ft (26k, 2200m elevation over 17hrs)
Sadly, we had to abort at 9pm giving our timeline and a thunderstorm that was heading our way. Loved it and will ache for a while to come. We were very well looked after by our guide Conor Watt and colleague Ollie who were absolutely amazing (and highly recommended!). Our support car crew were also fabulous with all the planning that goes in the background - thank you!
We will be back… please look up the Beer Harris Memorial Trust and the amazing work they do. Please help us reach our goal.
THANK YOU so much for sponsoring us!

Update: 9th June - right… it’s almost time! We are all set, haven’t trained as much as we wanted and thunder storm is now forecasted after a lively sunny week. We are up for the challenge in any case, which starts at 3am!!
THANK YOU so much for helping us get to the ~70% of our target. Your incredible generosity will help many people in need for support. If you can help us get to our target we would be so happy!
More photos to follow!

We are taking on this challenge (!!) to raise funds for community mental health projects, in the memory of Dom Beer our relative who dedicated his life working with sufferers of severe mental illness - please give generously!
The Welsh 3000s is a long-distance walking challenge, encompassing fifteen 3000ft mountains across Snowdonia (Eryri in Welsh). The distance is roughly 50km, with 3,625m of ascent. The aim is to complete the challenge within 24 hours.
The start time will be around 4am in the morning! The route passes through three distinct mountain ranges, the Snowdon Massif, The Glyderau, and The Carneddau. It will include scrambling, an activity that blends together elements of hill walking and rock climbing, and is not to be taken lightly.
With a challenge of this nature, a good base fitness level is necessary but mental toughness is often more important than physical toughness!
Money raised for the BHMT will support community based mental health projects.
