The Welsh 3000s is a long-distance walking challenge, encompassing fifteen 3000ft mountains across Snowdonia (Eryri in Welsh). The distance is roughly 50km, with 3,625m of ascent. The aim is to complete the challenge within 24 hours.
The start time will be around 4am in the morning! The route passes through three distinct mountain ranges, the Snowdon Massif, The Glyderau, and The Carneddau. It will include scrambling, an activity that blends together elements of hill walking and rock climbing, and is not to be taken lightly.
With a challenge of this nature, a good base fitness level is necessary but mental toughness is often more important than physical toughness!
Conor Watt, qualified Mountain Leader and university friend of Joseph Harris, will be leading one of the June expeditions. He has comprehensive experience in the North Wales terrain.
Money raised for the BHMT will support community based mental health projects.
