Story
For those who know me, running isn't exactly something you'd think of as one of my 'hobbies'. Having been on a bit of a journey over the last ~10 months to shed some pounds and get fit, I thought: what better way to push myself even further than to take on a marathon?!
Given the London Marathon is such a great opportunity for important charities to raise essential funds, I picked Trekstock to support as a great charity that helps young adult cancer sufferers, and who were a great support to my sister-in-law as she overcame her battle a few years ago.
As I go through my training journey, which you can hopefully follow here: https://www.strava.com/athletes/197153872, please dig deep and support this great cause, whilst helping to keep me motivated.
(Edit: I’ve increased my target due to the overwhelming generosity smashing the first goal, thank you!)
A little bit about Treckstock:
We are redefining what life alongside cancer looks like for people in their 20s and 30s. Facing the curveball of cancer when you're just figuring out life means living unlikely parallels. The 14,600 diagnosed every year are too old for childhood services and the youngest on adult wards by decades. The impact? They're left without support recognising their unique needs, leaving them lost and isolated.
We're the only charity in the UK that helps this group navigate life through and beyond an experience that doesn’t stop when treatment ends. Our range of support services and resources help our community get informed, get connected, get active and get heard. From exercise to friendships, sex to nutrition - we're here for it all.
