Story

On the 23rd May 2023 we lost our beautiful 6 year old Jayden Lamerton, to a devastating DIPG brain tumour, diagnosed only 4 months before.

DIPG is a rare cancer that mainly affects children, it is a terminal cancer which Jayden fought bravely against.

Jayden passed away in The Secret Garden room at Derriford hospital in Plymouth. This room is big open space, with the option to have doors open into the garden space. It allowed our large family and friends to be all together with Jayden, in a room that felt comfortable and personalised to him. We were able to get fresh air without leaving his side. The staff went above and beyond for us on this day, ensuring there were photos printed out on the walls, they put the route down to the secret garden on a pretty much lockdown, allowing us complete privacy whilst Jayden took his journey from A&E to the secret garden.Despite it being the worst day of our lives, it was dignified, supportive and not like we were in a hospital, because of the Secret Garden and the staff.

I now want to give back to the secret garden to help with its maintenance / add equipment so other families and patients who use this space will feel as we did.

Jamie has set up 2 football events. The first is a tournament, supported and managed by Level up coaching Plymouth, and several sponsors. This will be on 14th April 2024 at Harpers Plymouth. The tournament will be made up of 32 teams, 8 players per team. Price is £10 per player or £80 per team if already have a team set up. Please contact myself or level up coaching to sign up and make payment which will be going directly to this page.

Second event is going to be a 11 a side match, players from the tournament will have opportunity to bid to play. This will be on 5th May 2024 held at Manadon argyle community trust, further details will be released on this.

Even if you can’t play, any donations to this page would be greatly appreciated. All money is going directly to the Plymouth Hospitals Charity, who will spend the funds on The Secret Garden room. Please share to everyone you know so we can raise as much money as possible for this charity.

We miss you Jayden, our angel in the sky 🕊️ 💚

Lots of love, Daddy, Becky and Quinny xxx
