Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am raising money for NHS Charity together and Cancer Research UK.

I was going to run the London Marathon last year, started training in July 2024, all was going well. Then in February 2025 I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and needed an operation. I had the surgery at end of March, it went well and I'm cancer free, for now. One little hiccup was that some nerves on my right leg were damaged during surgery, and I couldn't walk for a while. In August, I needed another open surgery on complicated abdominal adhesions, hindered the recovery process even more. Finally, in mid December, after months of exercises, my physiotherapist gave me the green light to run, slowly, she said.

So here I am, ‘running’ the Marathon in April. I started training just before Christmas, walking and now running (slowly)/walking. My right leg is not yet fully recovered, and probably never will, and I don't really have long enough time to train for a marathon, but I will persevere and hopefully I can finish the course.

I was in hospital for a total of 30 days over two stints last year, I cannot thank NHS enough for saving my life, taking good care of me and for their continuous support. I'm also very grateful for Cancer Research UK for their fight against cancers. So many people are affected by this horrible disease, not just the patients but their families and friends. I hope you can donate to either charity on this page. Every little helps.
