Story

Last year Europe showed an overwhelming level of support for Ukraine by voting for them to win the Eurovision Song Contest with the highest percentage of televote points ever, by a significant margin.

Taking inspiration from the immense support across Europe for the people of Ukraine, we will be promoting a fundraising drive for the Disasters Emergency Committee’s Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal, whose goal is to provide food, warmth, clean water, medical care, financial support and psychological support to people affected by the Russo-Ukrainian war. Individual donations will be matched by the Reddit Community Fund up to $20,000.

This fundraiser is timed to coincide with Ukraine co-hosting this year's contest which would ordinarily be in Ukraine and will be linked to an AMA with 2016’s iconic Ukrainian winner Jamala. She has spent the last year visiting many European nations to garner financial support for Ukraine.

Intense conflict in Ukraine is threatening the lives and livelihoods of civilians across the country, causing millions to flee. Homes have been destroyed. Essential services have been hit. Families have been separated. People have been injured. Lives have been lost.

DEC charities and their local partners are in Ukraine and across the border in the neighbouring countries. They are working to meet the immediate needs of all people fleeing with food, water, medical assistance, protection and trauma care.

£30 could provide essential hygiene supplies for three people for one month

£50 could provide blankets for 4 families to keep them warm

£100 could provide emergency food for two families for one month
