Story

In April 2027, I will be taking part in The TCS London Marathon to raise money for MS-UK!

i have deciced to take part in running the london marathon and raise money for MS charity, not only because i really enjoy running but because october 2017 i found out i had m.s myself at the age of 21, my whole life pretty much changed, i was petrified, i had a numb feeling down the whole left side of my body, i was struggling to walk, my speech was slurred, i was very confused, the vision in my left eye went very blurry and i had a constant headache for a months. i finally had a mri scan one evening the following day i got rushed into hospital for another mri a lumber puncture and steriods for recovery. then i found out i had m.s which was a shock i did not expect it but 3 days in hospital i came out and my symptoms started to improve but very slowly, no treatment needed atm as my doctor just thought these symptoms was a one off and it would be silent for a while but then march 2018 i then went back to hospital for more steriods as i had a relapse and my symptoms started coming back i then had a decision to make to start a disease modifying drug which i was really scared about but i went with it and took all the advise from the doctors and nurses as they know best. i started tyabri and attended the hospital every 4 weeks and had the medication cannulated, found it really difficult at first as i have always had a phobia of needles but i knew this is to keep me well and the progression slow, since having the tysabri my m.s symptoms have got better and i would say back to normal and while i have been on the treatment no new lesions on my brain or spine which is a winner, what i really think help is i keep busy, regularly excersize and eat well, i also have a wonderful family behind me especially my little boy he deffo keeps me going, i really think this all helps alot. i decided to change treatments july 2025 due to the treatment being changed to a bio similar drug thar i didnt get on well with it, so now i am injecting myself with kesimpta every month which is really life changing for me and its so so easy, so far so good i was lucky enough to start running around about lockdown 2020 and i have just really enjoyed it, when i started i couldnt run down my road but now im running 5k 10k and even half marathons. this year i thought lets take on the challenge to run london 2027 ill enter but i probably wont get in, i recieved a phone call saying theres one place left and they want to offer it to me, i really couldnt say no. this is the charity i really wanted to raise money for because i have had such a big journey with m.s so far and may it continue to be more positive than negative even though at anytime i know it could all change if i say no i would regret it, i now know alot of people with m.s and while i am able to run i really want to do it for myself and raise money to support more people with m.s! everyones story is so different and some stories really help other people.
