Running the 2025 London Marathon for the British Heart Foundation

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·
I'm Richard, and I'm pretty dang excited to share that I'll be running (yes, RUNNING) the 2025 London Marathon, on behalf of EuroABS, in support of the British Heart Foundation. This amazing organization is dedicated to funding life-saving research and providing vital support for those affected by heart and circulatory diseases.
The BHF is at the forefront of the fight against heart and circulatory diseases, which claim the lives of one in four people in the UK. There are over 7 million people in the UK living with heart and circulatory diseases, the world's biggest killers. Sadly, a father or sibling or friend dies from these conditions every 3 minutes. The BHF's groundbreaking research and support services are transforming outcomes for patients and their families every day.
As a young teenager, I volunteered at a British Heart Foundation store in North London, which was a truly formative experience for me. I spent my time there sorting donations, organizing merchandise, and assisting customers. Working alongside the fantastic manager Liza, her dedicated staff and fellow volunteers taught me valuable skills and instilled a strong sense of community and compassion. This early involvement with the BHF inspired my ongoing commitment to their mission. My company's, and my own, connection to the British Heart Foundation has played a significant role in me taking on the challenge of running the 2025 London Marathon in their honor.
EuroABS’ CEO, Darren Nesbitt, has first-hand experience of the outstanding work that the BHF do, with his daughter Rosie being diagnosed with congenital heart disease at a 20-week scan. She had complex heart surgery at just 10 days’ old and required further surgery in 2020. Early-stage VR technology, funded by the BHF, gave surgeons the unique ability to see every detail of Rosie’s heart before operating.
Training for a marathon is no small feat, but it's nothing compared to the challenges faced by those living with heart conditions. Over the coming months, I'll be pushing to the very limit to prepare for the 26.2-mile race, and I invite you to join me on this journey.
Your support means the world to me as I take on this marathon challenge. While the goal of this page is fundraising, your support doesn't need to be. There are many ways you can get involved in this quest:
- Donate: I have set my fundraising goal of £100 per mile. Every contribution, big or small, brings us one step closer to funding life-saving research through the British Heart Foundation. Your generosity can help transform lives affected by heart and circulatory diseases.
- Share my page: Spread the word by sharing my fundraising page with your friends, family, and social networks. The more people who know about this cause, the greater impact we can make together.
- Send Encouragement: Your words of support and encouragement fuel my motivation. Leave a message, comment on my updates, or cheer me on as I train. Knowing you're behind me every step of the way makes all the difference.
- Join the Journey: Follow my training progress on social media, engage with my posts, and feel free to share your own stories or experiences related to heart health.
I'll be posting updates here on training progress and fundraising milestones. My training can be more closely followed on the following channels:

No matter your choice of support, thank you! Your contribution to this journey is immensely appreciated. Together, we can help the BHF continue their life-saving work.
