Story
I'm Roadie316 and over the past year, I've built an incredible online community. I started streaming Euro Truck Simulator 2 and other truck simulation games on TikTok in September 2025, and what began as a bit of fun has grown into a community of nearly 20,000 amazing people.
More recently, I've taken the next step and started streaming over on Twitch too, where I'm hoping to continue building the Road Crew into a fun, welcoming community for everyone!
The support I've received over the past year has genuinely been life-changing, and this feels like the perfect opportunity to use that platform to give something back.
On 7th June 2023, I made the biggest decision of my life.
I stopped drinking.
That might sound simple, but it wasn't.
For years, alcohol controlled my life. I owned and ran a bar and nightclub, and drinking became part of my everyday routine. What started as "just part of the job" gradually became something I couldn't function without.
I was drinking every single day, often from the moment I got into work. I hid it from friends, family and colleagues because I didn't want anyone to know how bad it had become.
Eventually, my health started to suffer. After finally being honest with my doctor about how much I was drinking, they told me something I'll never forget.
If I carried on the way I was, I probably wouldn't make it to 40.
I was only 30 years old.
That conversation changed my life.
Giving up alcohol wasn't easy. There were difficult days, setbacks and moments where I questioned whether I could do it. But one day became one week, one week became one month, and eventually those days turned into years.
Today, I'm proud to say I've been sober for over three years.
Sobriety didn't just improve my health. It gave me my life back. It gave me clarity, helped me face problems I'd spent years trying to escape, and allowed me to build a happier future.
During those early days, when I was trying to understand my relationship with alcohol and find a way through, Alcohol Change UK became an invaluable source of support. Their website, resources and advice gave me practical information at a time when I really needed it. Knowing there were people and organisations dedicated to helping others through similar struggles made me feel far less alone.
I genuinely believe those resources played a part in helping me get to where I am today.
That's why, three years later, I want to give something back.
Friday 31st July 2026, I'll be taking on a 24-hour live stream to raise money for Alcohol Change UK, so they can continue providing support, guidance and education for people who are facing the same battle I once was.
If my story helps even one person realise they're not alone, or encourages someone to take that first step towards getting help, then sharing it has been worth it.
If you're able to donate, no matter how big or small, I'd be incredibly grateful. Every penny raised goes directly to Alcohol Change UK and helps them continue the incredible work they do.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story, and thank you for supporting this challenge. Your kindness and generosity genuinely mean the world to me.
Much love,
Roadie316
