Story
In 2025 I ran my first ever Marathon in memory of my Mum, Angela. I raised over £2000 for The Christie Charity, who were integral in supporting my Mum during her battle with Stage 4 cancer. She was diagnosed with Glioblastoma multiform tumours in 2020 and we sadly lost her in July that same year.
This year, I’m running the Manchester marathon again and I have chosen to support Moya Cole Hospice (Formerly St Ann’s hospice) who gave Mum end of life care and were truly the most amazing support during such a difficult period.
Mum was at St Ann’s for a number of weeks and I visited every day. Their service is so valuable and they provide incredible care to patients with life-limiting illnesses and supports their families and carers across Greater Manchester.
Only a third of their funding comes from the NHS, and they need to raise £20,000 each day to continue providing their essential services and compassionate care.
Every step I take will help St Ann's provide essential care for patients and their families. Please support me by donating what you can.
A donation of £30.60 could pay for a bereavement session for a loved one with their specialist team (of which I had several in the months after mum passed away)
Running has been such wonderful therapy for me this last 18 months. When I struggled towards the end of last years marathon, I remembered all the support people have given me and I remembered my “why”
That’s what got me over the line and I am hoping for the same again!
Thank you so much for reading,
Rob
