Sponsored walk for a local charity - please help.
Hello all.
I am involved with a local charity – Wellbeing in the Weald – which provides a range of activities in and around Cranbrook to combat loneliness and promote wellbeing in the community. These activities include a weekly drop-in, a book club, walking groups, a community allotment, a crafting group, a yoga class, a men’s wellbeing group and – most recently - a youth club. This youth group provides an essential place for younger teenagers to meet in the town as our local non-selective secondary school was closed in 2022 and pupils are now bused to secondary school 12 miles away.
All these activities are free and incredibly well supported but the charity costs over £30k a year to run. We cover costs by fundraising and grants but this year has been a tough year (as it is for all charities) and so on Sunday 23rd August this year I’m doing a 20-mile sponsored walk to raise funds.
I will be starting in Cranbrook and - in a figure of eight – walking to Benenden and back to Cranbrook (10 miles) and then out to Goudhurst and back to Cranbrook (10 miles).
I’m hoping to raise a much-needed £500 and should be so grateful if you would be able to sponsor me to raise this amount.
