TUF's Cycle Challenge Sri Lanka 2024 · 28 November 2024 to 7 December 2024 ·

TUF's 2024 Cycle Challenge: Sri Lanka, 28 November - 7 December, 2024 This challenge event will raise funds to support TUF's research and training programmes, leading to better understanding of urology and improved outcomes for urology patients.

Story

Urology disease and conditions affects man and women, at any age. It can affect the quality of life, from a mild irritation to becoming life limiting. TUF is the only charity that supports all urology disease and conditions, by funding research to better understand urology, to providing education and travel grants for health care professional to learn best practice and improve urology patient outcomes. And we provide information for urology patients too, to help them better understand their condition and how to manage it.

The Urology Foundation, or TUF as its fondly known as, is a fantastic charity that I’m proud to be a trustee of. Over the years TUF has worked tirelessly to ensure that patients affected by cancers of the kidneys, bladder and prostate as well as conditions like incontinence and kidney stones, are given the attention they deserve. Something that few other charities are doing. The Urology Foundation’s aim is for Excellence in Urology through research, innovation and training.

Thanks to TUF, researchers across the country are working to find new ways to treat and prevent these disease areas, and possibly one day they might find a cure for them. Through my work I have seen first-hand, not only the impact a urological cancer or condition can have on one’s quality of life but also the difference TUF is working hard to make. Over the last few years we have seen an increase in the number of urology patients undergoing robotic surgery for prostate and kidney cancer, the introduction of Botox to treat overactive bladder, and all of this, and much more, is because of The Urology Foundation. In the future we aim to fund areas of innovation , training and research that are difficult to fund such as research into urinary tract infections , assessment of new techniques, simulation in training and quality of life in patients with urological cancer to name a few !

This challenge covers a lot of cycle climbing and a significant challenge particularly in the heat , but when the going gets tough, the TUF get going!

The carbon footprint is offset by all on the cycle . I cover all my costs for these challenges so all donations go to The Urology Foundation.

Your sponsorship me will help in so many ways – here’s just a few examples.

£15 will provide urology health awareness materials

£33 will fund an hour of TUF research

£70 will go towards a specialist training session for a urology nurse

The funds raised by this challenge event will help TUF continue its vital work.
