Miles of Hope

Rosemary Hughes is raising money for Rising Sun Domestic Violence and Abuse Service

Miles of hope · 1 October 2026

Complete 43.8 miles to support survivors of domestic abuse.

Story

I'm taking on the Miles of Hope challenge to raise funds for a local domestic abuse charity, Rising Sun.

Throughout October I'm going to walk, run, swim, cycle - move myself - and complete 43.8 miles to represent the 43,800 women in Kent affected by domestic abuse last year.

Everyone deserves to live free from fear, but every day families suffer the trauma of domestic abuse and violence.

Rising Sun empowers & supports women, children and anyone impacted by domestic abuse in Canterbury, Ashford and Folkestone & Hythe, helping them towards safety and recovery.

Their specialist services include advocacy, counselling, group programmes, supported accommodation, emergency safeguarding and weekly drop-ins.

Each pound donated will make an impact - every £25 could pay for a woman to attend a specialist 1:1 counselling session.

By donating, you can ensure victim-survivors are listened to, believed and can access the specialist services they need to live safely and rebuild their lives.
