I’m running the Alton Towers Half Marathon for my daughter, Aria — my brave little girl, my “Ari Boo” — who is living with mitochondrial disease.
Every other day in the UK, a baby is born who may go on to develop serious mitochondrial disease — a rare, life-limiting genetic condition that currently has no cure. For families like mine, the diagnosis is devastating. It’s confusing, isolating, and full of unknowns — but also full of love, strength, and the need to keep going.
That’s why I’m proud to be supporting The Lily Foundation, the UK’s leading charity for mitochondrial disease. They support families like ours, raise much-needed awareness, and fund pioneering research that brings hope for better treatments — and one day, a cure.
This charity was founded by Liz Curtis in memory of her daughter Lily, who died from mito at just 8 months old. Like Liz, I’m fuelled by love for my child and a determination to fight for her future.
On race day, I’ll be running in pink — the colour of The Lily Foundation, and one of Aria’s favourites. She loves anything bright and colourful, just like her beautiful personality. So pink it is — for the cause, and for my little girl.
“I’m running for Aria — for her strength, her spirit, and her smile that keeps us going even on the hardest days.”
Please donate if you can. Every step I take is for her — and every pound you give helps bring us all closer to hope.
