"Play Hard, Have Fun, Same Team" - John "Bag" Hefti

John Hefti tragically passed away the evening of Monday, October 4, 2021 in a car accident in Virginia Beach. Bag was a decorated Navy fighter pilot, a husband and a father of three boys. Beyond his naval service, Bag was a talented athlete and a beloved youth baseball and basketball coach in the Virginia Beach community. Bag positively impacted countless lives along his journey and is missed tremendously.

In the 4+ years since his passing, those closest to Bag have created "Bag's Buddies" - The Captain John "Bag" Hefti Memorial Scholarship Foundation with the goal of furthering Bag’s commitment to building future community leaders through the positive impacts of sports.

Bags love for our country, his family and the local community continues to shine bright through the Bag's Buddies Memorial Foundation and I am proud to be running the Shamrock Half Marathon to help raise money for this great cause.
