On June 1st, 2025, I will be competing in the Ironman Hamburg triathlon. This incredible challenge consists of a 3.8km open water swim in the Elbe river, followed by a 180km cycle, and culminating in a full marathon of 42.2km. I have been training daily for the past five months, and it has been a journey filled with mental, emotional, and physical challenges that show no signs of easing up!

But why am I doing this? Who am I raising money for?

In 2012, my youngest son was diagnosed with Autism, specifically affecting his speech, language, and social interaction skills. Two years later, he was accepted into Oak View School, a special needs school based in Loughton, Essex. At just seven years old, he had a vocabulary of only a dozen words and could count to ten in a language only those familiar with him could understand. Fast forward ten years, and his development has been nothing short of astonishing. I recognize that much of his success is due to the incredible support from Oak View School.

I want to help give back to the charity ‘Friends of Oak View School’. They organize social and fundraising events to support the education and development of children with various disabilities who attend Oak View School. One essential item needed by the school is a custom-made climbing wall. This climbing wall will provide numerous benefits for children with a variety of disabilities:

It supports physical strength, balance & coordination; Fosters confidence & independence; Offers sensory and cognitive benefits; Aids emotional development; Encourages social interaction.

The cost for such a climbing wall starts at £3,000 which is very basic and can go upwards depending on its size.

There are many wonderful charities that require additional funding; however, Oak View has provided my son—and many children over the years—with a secure foundation to develop and grow.

If I finish the Ironman event, I will be incredibly proud; if I finish in daylight, I will be ecstatic! More importantly, if I can raise £8,000 for this cause, children with various disabilities will thrive for many years to come.

Please help me support Oak View School so that together we can make a difference in their lives!

Thank you.
