Story
I've been running with a wonderful group of four women round the streets of Belfast since COVID. This group has kept me going, listened to me and made me laugh!!
In August 2024, one of these friends - Claire - got bad news. Her healthy, sporty teenage daughter, Rowan, was diagnosed with Oestosarcoma, a primary bone cancer which only accounts for 2-3% of all childhood cancers.
Wonderfully, 18 months later, after several rounds of chemotherapy and reconstructive leg surgery to remove the tumour, she is back at school and, slowly but surely, getting back to the things she loves.
Now, as a running group, our hope is to raise awareness into this horrible disease, and to improve treatments and patient outcomes. All of which the Boom Foundation supports.
So in April 2026, the four of us will be taking on the challenge of running the London Landmarks Half Marathon to help raise funds for research. We are currently training - and it would help us keep going to know others are supporting us.
Thank you so much in advance for donating whatever you can, it really will make a massive difference.
