Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge in aid of One in a Million Charity · 15 July 2023

We are taking on the gruelling Yorkshire 3 Peaks to raise money to help One In A Million support children and young people living in disadvantaged communities of Bradford.

Story

Hello all

Thank you very much for all your donations.

We all three made it around the Three Peaks on Saturday in one piece.

The event was nearly called off the day before due to the poor weather forecast…. It’s fair to say that the weather made it more of a challenge than any of us had expected – as if 24.5 miles over hills was not enough of a challenge!

We had a little bit of sunshine at the beginning, but the winds were strong all day and everywhere was wet and slippery.

We were halfway up Whernside when a full storm closed in with thunder, lightning and sideways hail stones (painful!).

Both Claire and Mark fell over on wet rocks on the descent from Whernside. No lasting injuries though.

Ingleborough was full on wind on the way up and torrential rain all the way back to Horton in Ribblesdale. Little bit of advice for those who want to do this in the future. DO IT. It was well worth the effort (and pain), but a word of warning the last 4 miles are the hardest. It just seems to go on forever.

Ryan made it in under the 12 hours and Mark was just over 12 hours, and Claire was just over 13 hours, which we are all happy with given the conditions.

Thanks again from us all!

Claire, Ryan and Mark
