Thank you for visiting my just giving page. As many of you know I’ve been a fundraising volunteer for Ayrshire Cancer Support since 2022 and, as a family, we’ve supported the charity for over 33 years. My Mum was a volunteer driver from 1992-1999.

In 2009/10 the wonderful volunteer drivers took my Dad from his home in Tarbolton to the Beatson in Glasgow and home again…a daily return journey of 67 miles. During his treatment they did this 5 days a week, for 8 consecutive weeks.

Ayrshire Cancer Support run their Ayrshire to Beatson Challenge every September, encouraging supporters to fundraise by walking, running, cycling or swimming a distance of their choice, to represent the distance the volunteer drivers cover daily, taking patients from Ayrshire to the Beatson Hospital. With current fuel prices, each trip to the Beatson costs the charity roughy £55. Cancer patients often need to access this free service multiple times a week for months or even years.

This year I’ve decided to take part in the Ayrshire to Beatson Challenge and throughout the month of September I’m aiming to walk a total of 67 miles (108km) representing Dad’s daily journey from Tarbolton- Beatson-Tarbolton.

My walking journey will be split into as many small and/or large walks, as it takes, throughout the month. Based on my current average walking distance I’ll seriously have to up my game. But 2025 is the year I’m saying yes to being out my comfort zone and I do love a challenge!

I would be very grateful for any donations towards my fundraiser as all monies raised will help the charity provide the wonderful volunteer driver service and the many other free services provided to the people of Ayrshire.
