🧡 Hearts on the Edge – Saferoad’s Charity Climb for Cardiac Care
This year, the Saferoad team is taking on an extraordinary challenge to raise money for the British Heart Foundation and Freeman Hospital’s Cardiothoracic Centre — two organisations at the heart of a cause that hits very close to home.
One of our colleagues suffered a sudden cardiac arrest after initially being diagnosed with Takotsubo syndrome — a rare and often misunderstood heart condition. His journey included repeated hospital stays, medication trials, and ultimately, life-saving interventions. His story highlights how quickly heart conditions can escalate and how crucial it is to fund research, raise awareness, and support those affected.
To honour his recovery and raise life-changing funds, we’ll be tackling one of the Lake District’s toughest challenges: a 12.7km mountain hike to the summit of Helvellyn, involving over 900m of ascent and the infamous Striding Edge — a narrow ridge that demands both mental and physical grit. This is no easy walk, but we’re stepping up for hearts everywhere.
⛰️ Please support the British Heart Foundation as we raise vital funds to prevent heart disease, support families, and fund groundbreaking research.
