Story
This April, I’ll be taking on the London Half Marathon to raise money and awareness for the Addison’s Disease Self Help Group, following my wife Kiri’s recent diagnosis with Addison’s disease.
Addison’s disease is a rare, life-threatening autoimmune condition in which the adrenal glands fail to produce the essential hormones the body needs to function. After a gradual decline in Kiri’s health over the last couple of years, she became seriously unwell and was hospitalised. It was only five months ago that we finally received the diagnosis.
With only around 9,000 people in the UK affected, Addison’s disease is often misunderstood and can be incredibly challenging to manage. The Addison’s Disease Self Help Group has been invaluable in helping our family understand the condition and navigate life with it.
I’m running to give back—to support the charity that has supported us, and to help ensure more people living with Addison’s get the guidance and resources they need.
Anything you’re able to give, no matter how small, would mean a great deal. Thank you.
