Story
Hi all!
I am looking to raise money for Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital by running around the circumference of the island of Koh Samui, off Thailand. The run itself will be 60-70km depending on road conditions, in 28-34 degree heat and likely 100% humidity. I am running this to raise money for the hospital that helped me throughout my childhood.
I was born with a congenital cataract in my left eye and had an operation to remove it at 3 weeks. Despite the drama this caused my parents (and i) I was actually extremely fortunate - most babies born with cataracts are much more likely to have them in both eyes as part of a wider health issue.
I spent approximately eight years visiting Great Ormond Street regularly to have my sight tested, contact lenses fitted and pressures taken and received the most incredible care.
The biggest lesson that my family and I took from this experience however, was how lucky I was. I only had a small problem with my eye. There are thousands of very sick children who are treated every day at this amazing hospital - and sadly, some of them don’t get to come home. Anything you can give to help me to support this incredible place, the staff and kids treated there would be massively appreciated.
