Story
In April 2026, I will be taking on the huge challenge of running the London Landmarks Half Marathon.
If you know me well enough, you’ll know I’m still trying to find my love of running so this is a huge challenge for me.
So why would I do this, you ask?
Because this is all for Orla!
Our lovely friends lost their beautiful girl Orla when she was just 2 years and 8 months old after a year long battle against a rare type of paediatric brain tumour called medulloblastoma. As a parent, there are no words that can capture the heartbreak of it all. But what we can do is keep her memory alive by helping raise LOTS of money in her name and for GOSH!
Orla sadly passed away in August 2023 after a year-long battle against a rare brain tumour. We want to help tell Orla's story whilst raising awareness of childhood cancer and to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital's Build it, Beat it campaign, which is raising funds for a new children's cancer centre.
It’s hard to describe what Orla went through during her treatment, and even harder to explain how amazing, strong and courageous she was, but one thing is clear and that is Orla would not have got through half of it, if it wasn’t for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Great Ormond Street Hospital saved Orla's life on three separate occasions and gave her the best chance of surviving this horrible disease. The new children's cancer centre will offer new facilities and technology to patients, new research capabilities, dedicated critical care units and so much more.
All money raised for this challenge will go towards helping the Great Ormond Street Children's Charity fund this ambitious project.
As Team Orla we are working in conjunction with the Great Ormond Street Children's Charity and are aiming to raise £350K over the next 2-3 years to go towards a patient/family room in the New Children’s Cancer Centre in memory of Orla. Each room will cost roughly £350K, so a contribution of this size will make a massive difference.
So me & my lovely husband James are taking on this challenge to help raise money for Orla and this amazing Charity. We’ll be running alongside Orla’s Dad Adam who has already completed some incredible (mental) challenges to continue to raise awareness and keep Orla’s memory alive.
I’d be forever (and ever) grateful if you could dig deep and help donate whatever you can! It really will make a massive difference.
