Sara's fundraiser for Pancreatic Cancer Action

Edinburgh Marathon Festival 2025 · 24 May 2025 ·
I’m running 10k in memory of my amazing dad, Dave Cordiner, who we heartbreakingly lost last September, just nine weeks after he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
By the time Dad’s symptoms appeared, it was too advanced to treat and the only option available was palliative care. It was devastating to watch, knowing there was nothing that could be done.
There is currently no screening programme or early diagnostic test for pancreatic cancer, something that might have saved his life. Without early detection, this disease continues to steal lives far too quickly. In the UK, 797 people die from pancreatic cancer every month. 93% of people diagnosed won’t survive five years. This has to change.
I’m fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer Action, a charity dedicated to saving lives through early diagnosis and raising awareness of the symptoms.
10k might not sound like much to seasoned runners, but it’s a real challenge for me. Every step is for my dad, who always carried me on his shoulders, and for everyone still fighting this disease.
Please donate if you can. Your support will help make early diagnosis possible and give more families hope.
Together, we can save lives.
