Story

Dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on the 2nd of July 2024 and died just nine weeks later on the 5th of September.

This aggressive disease was excruciatingly painful and utterly exhausting for Dad, who was perviously energetic and full of life. The pain and extreme fatigue denied him any hope of life-prolonging chemotherapy.

It has been unbearable to watch our lovely Dad suffer and we feel strongly that early detection needs to be improved as a matter of urgency.

Currently, only around 10-15% of pancreatic cancer patients are diagnosed early enough for potentially life-saving surgery. Pancreatic cancer has the lowest five-year survival rate of any of the 22 common cancers, and a shocking 1% of people with pancreatic cancer survive more than 10 years.

Pancreatic Cancer Action (https://pancreaticcanceraction.org/) is the only UK charity dedicated to saving lives through early diagnosis.

Had he been diagnosed early, Dave, an incredible husband and Dad, our precious Grumpy, a brilliant friend and dedicated teacher, might still be with us today.
