Story
On Sunday 20th July 2025, I’m taking on the challenge of swimming the English Channel as part of a six-person relay team, Brockwell Blue Fins, to raise funds for the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution), a charity whose mission is to "Saves lives at sea".
The 20.5-mile crossing will be swum one hour at a time by each team member — one hour swim, followed by five hours trying to keep warm, rest, and then jumping back into the lovely 15–19°C sea for another hour! Last year’s successful swims took between 12 and 13 hours to reach France, so please keep your fingers crossed for good conditions 🙂
You can track our swimming progress on 20th July with our boat Connemara via https://www.channelswimmingassociation.com/tracking
It’s a test of endurance, teamwork, tolerance to seasickness, bravery with the pitch-black sea, jellyfish, and sharing a shipping lane with massive container ships! I’m not selling it very well... lol!
But rest assured, I’ve been training hard, swimming through the UK winter in all sea conditions, including rough, cold, and choppy waves!
Every donation, no matter the size, brings us closer to making a meaningful difference. If you’re able to support, I would be deeply grateful. Thank you for being part of the journey.
