Story
I am doing a sequence of nuts fundraising challenges in my 50th year to raise vital funds for Hospiscare.
On Feb 21st I completed the Dartmoor Winter Traverse: 30km across bogs and battling driving rain. Last weekend I ran the Grizzly cub: 10 miles off road in mud, through rivers and along shingle beaches.
On June 6th I face my biggest challenge yet at the Blenheim weekend warrior: this will involve completing as many triathlons as possible in the Blenheim palace grounds over a weekend.
On 24th June I will be participating in ‘Walk Devon’ just over 100km from one Devon coast line to the other via Dartmoor from Westward ho! to Paignton. That’s a very looong way!
On 31 October 2026, Jonny & Sarah will be setting off on an Indian Himalayas Trek in aid of Hospiscare.
The route follows an ancient trail from the home of the Dalai Lama, passing panoramic mountain landscapes along the Karei Stream, through alpine meadows. We will then take the overnight sleeper train before visiting one of the wonders of the world, the Taj Mahal. We are looking forward to experiencing the rich culture and traditions of the region – and especially to spending two days volunteering with a local community project in Delhi!
Hospiscare are a local charity, caring for terminally ill patients and their families across Exeter, Mid and East Devon. The trek we’re taking on will be a real challenge; We will be trekking for up to 8 hours a day! But it's nothing compared to the challenge of a terminal diagnosis that so many face each year. If we can help make things a little easier for those facing one of life’s most difficult journeys, that’s what we are going to do!
