As anyone reading this probably knows, I had to undergo major surgery in December of last year, and while I don’t normally do two sponsored events so close together, I hope you will forgive me for doing so just this once.

This is to say thank you to the hospital who cared for me so well; to the consultant who, having blown up my life then proceeded to fulfil his promise to see me through the crisis, and rebuilt the ruins at the speed of light (I am, of course, not being over dramatic at all 😂); to the team he brought with him to help with that promise - as it was definitely a team effort….the specialists in terms of diet and speech who had to put up with my disgusted face at some (most 🫣) of their suggestions; the anaesthetists who dealt with my pre-op wobble with just the right amount of practicality and compassion; the other consultants and doctors who were so tolerant when I brought out my princess behaviour, the ward nurses who had to put up with me not wanting to be there from the moment I walked through the doors, the CCU nurses who worked out how not to make me go Ow at everything they did 🤦🏼‍♀️, the MacMillan nurses who were so supportive even when I was doing my best impression of not wanting to be supported, the security staff who kept an eye on me when I went awol at night; the housekeeping and maintenance staff who kept the place spotless and working, and who always had a kind word for me; his secretary and other admin staff who managed to work miracles with his schedule and my frequent travel at the time….

This is for them! (And a little bit for me to prove that our only limits are those we set on ourselves)
