Story
Heartfulness practitioners are coming together to support the work of Heartfulness UK, raising funds to bring free relaxation and meditation sessions to more people across the UK.
Practising Heartfulness meditation as well as being a Heartfulness trainer has been incredibly beneficial to me in my personal life, especially over the last 4 years. In 2021, as the UK went into Lockdown, I was diagnosed with cancer, for which I received both major surgery and chemotherapy. In 2024, I had a recurrence of cancer, leading to more life changing surgery, and then developed a hole in my bowel which is still healing, connected with a long term autoimmune disease which was aggravated by the cancer treatment I received. It has been a challenging 4 years! Throughout this whole time, my Heartfulness meditation practice, with regular 1-1 sessions from trainers which the Heartfulness organisation offers free of charge, gave me an inner strength and peace which enabled me to go through my treatment and setbacks with a (mostly!) calm and positive attitude. I have had nurses say to me, “I can’t understand how you are so laid back about this! I wouldn’t be that calm if I had just one illness never mind two!” or comment on my “inspirational attitude” - and I have explained that daily Heartfulness meditation is definitely what does it for me!
I have spent 4 years doing a lot of lying around resting… and I am just beginning to get fit and strong again. I thought this fundraiser would be the perfect way to motivate me to work on regaining my strength and fitness while giving back to a charity which has changed my life and that of my family for the better. I realise that cycling 100 miles over 2 months is not much of a challenge for many of my fit friends but for me it would be a big achievement!
Any funds raised will support a wide range of free yoga and meditation sessions organised across the country in celebration of International Day of Yoga 2026. These sessions, held in communities, colleges, workplaces, and homes, create welcoming spaces to reduce stress, improve well-being, and support inner transformation.
Those of us who practice Heartfulness meditation have experienced first-hand the benefits in our own lives—a growing sense of inner peace, resilience and calm in the midst of daily challenges, and a deeper feeling of connection with ourselves and others. By coming together in this exercise challenge, we hope to extend these benefits outward, so that more people can discover moments of stillness, a sense of deeper connection, and the opportunity to grow and transform inwardly.
Any little that you can spare will enable our volunteers to continue offering Heartfulness meditation and yoga events free of charge. Thank you for your support 🙏
