Charity has always been something that i’ve been very passionate about.

Since leaving my role as a fundraiser, i’ve wanted to continue doing my bit. So every year, I like to put myself out of my comfort zone and push my limits for a good cause!

This year is no exception! Taking part in Strictly will do both of those things!

Hugs is an amazing charity and I feel privileged to be able to take part in such an amazing event!

If you don’t know much about the charity….

Henry was just 3 years old when he was diagnosied with stage 4 neuroblastoma, a childhood cancer that is notoriously difficult to treat. Henrys family had to relocate from Plymouth to Bristol for treatment which lasted nearly 18 months. On return to Plymouth the family wanted to open a charity to support other people from the region who had to also travel to Bristol for treatment and to provide emotional support for those going through the same journey.

In 2015 the Hallam family opened Hugs From Henry, providing peer to peer support for families Who found themselves on the same journey as they did.

The family provide a private respite centre in Cornwall for families to visit. The home called Henrys hideout gives families a place away from the hospital to make memories and relax. this is open to all families who have a child or have had a child with cancer.

The charity also provides peer-to-peer support through awaydays and coffee mornings, and during the Covid pandemic stepped up.
