Story
On 11th October, I'll be running the Royal Parks Half Marathon for my husband, Danny, and to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association.
On 20th March 2025, our family's lives changed forever when Danny was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.
The MND Association has been there for us every step of the way, offering guidance, practical advice and compassion when we've needed it most. From signposting us to charities for emotional and physical support, giving expert advice and always being there with kindness and encouragement. They have provided us grants which have allowed us time together, making special memories as a family whilst we navigate this journey. They have also loaned us essential equipment, including a mobility scooter, stairlift and various wheelchairs, helping us adapt to the changes MND brings and making everyday life more manageable.
The community has meant so much to our family, and this is my way of saying thank you. By supporting this fundraiser, you'll be helping to ensure other families receive the same support when they face an MND diagnosis. You'll also be contributing to the research that we all hope will lead to effective treatments and, ultimately, a cure.
Running has been therapy for me whilst living with the grief that comes with having a terminally ill partner. It was also something Danny loved to do regularly. I am very fortunate to be able to run to raise awareness of the MND Association and I'll be taking on this challenge alongside my sister, Louise, and my niece, Evelyn. Together, we're running to give something back to a charity that has given my family so much.
If you're able to support us by donating, no matter how small, we would be incredibly grateful. Thank you so much for your support.
