Story
Over the last decade, over 130 UK wholesale and convenience senior executives have completed a total of 11 international bike rides, raising an incredible £1.5 million for MAG (Mines Advisory Group) – the Manchester based charity, awarded Co-Laureate of the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize for its role in the international campaign to ban landmines.
Having held the fort for the last 4 years while colleagues have done the bike ride, I have decided that 2026 is my moment to get involved! It's a huge personal challenge, having not got on a bike since the pandemic, but I want to do it to improve my fitness, be part of an incredible network and most importantly, raise money for this amazing charity.
Every day, 15 people are killed or injured by landmines and unexploded bombs. Almost half of casualties are children. MAG’s teams around the world remove these items for good from communities affected by conflict. Every landmine and weapon taken out of the ground is a life saved, an injury prevented, and a community given the chance to rebuild.
The Sri Lanka Cycle Challenge 2026 is the “last one for the road” and the 11th challenge taken on by the Bikes Against Bombs team and I am excited to be part of this incredible team.
