Story
Hi everyone!
I will be running the Landmarks Half Marathon in April in support of Alcohol Change UK. Alcohol Change UK is a leading UK Alcohol Charity, that focuses entirely on reducing alcohol harm, from mental and physical, to societal and economic.
I have chosen to raise money for Alcohol Change UK as over the past couple of years, I have struggled with anxiety related to drinking. I often experience low moods when I drink, and upon waking up the next day I can be consumed by worry about what I may or may not have done the night before. As a result of this, after a night of 'big drinking' I spend the next week or so feeling incredibly down. Eventually I joined the dots, and decided to re-asses my drinking. I don't think that my experience is necessarily unique, and this is still very much a journey I am on, but I would really like to encourage anyone to reach out for help if they think drinking might be doing them more harm than good.
I would really appreciate your help, and anything you are able to give would mean the world!
The problem is complex, and so the solutions aren’t simple. But we’re ambitious. Driven by our belief that every person deserves to live a full life free from alcohol harm, we create evidence-driven change by working towards five key changes: improved knowledge, better policies and regulation, shifted cultural norms, improved drinking behaviours, and more and better support and treatment.
