IOW Half Marathon · 20 August 2023

We have provided thousands of much-needed on-the-water and classroom training to pupils from local Isle of Wight primary schools over the past few years. All for free. We would like to extend this provision to get more island children into boats!

Story

Please support this group of Seaview folk who are currently training for the IOW Half Marathon - 13.1 miles. Current members of the team - Cecilia Bottomley, Justyn Comer, Benedetta Welsh, Jonathan Cocke, Antonia Roskill, Belinda Hacking, James Croft, Thomas Youngman, Alarna Rowland, Tatty Watson-Smyth, George Broxham and Tracy North

The schools programme is entirely funded through charitable donations. Organisations and individuals both on the Isle of Wight and the mainland have seen the difference this programme is making to its participants and generously supported the programme. Donors range from SVYC members, local Seaview businesses to national organisations and charities such as Sir Ben Ainslies charity 1851.

You will spot our team runners with their red and green (Port and Statboard) wristbands Do come and cheer us on around Nettlestone or at the finish in Appley Park

We are hugely grateful to all the funders who allow us to operate this programme in a part of the country with some of the weakest educational outcomes.
