Story

Weʼre doing the Glasgow Kiltwalk in memory of our brother John Sheridan who passed away suddenly in January.

John spent alot of time volunteering with local charity, Diamonds in the Community.

Diamonds in the Community runs various social outreach services in the Airdrie community which include Arts Workshop, Chit Chat Café, Football Memories Group, Walk & Talk Group and Walking Football. These group were all created to help local residents looking for activities which can help with good mental as well as physical health and reduce social isolation. However the funding raised from the KiltWalk will primarily be going towards the largest service, the Monklands Baby & Family Clothing Aid, which covers Airdrie & Coatbridge as well as the wider North Lanarkshire area. This service helps provide the most vulnerable in our community with clothing & shoes as well as vital household which can cover everything from crockery, towels, bedding, furniture, white goods and much more. This service is mostly run on a referral basis and we work with all social work departments, health visitors, nhs services, domestic abuse organisations, homeless organisations, rehabilitation services and many more charities and community organisations. We also offer free help on a non-referral basis to anyone in need for winter jackets, sanitary products, toiletries, nappies, seasonal clothing. As well as these services we also operate various recycling schemes including sportswear, football boots, bicycles and laptops and tablets all of which are redistributed to those in need in the community. #CreatingBetterFuturesTogether
