Story
Our Sahara Desert Challenge for Dana.
So on 11th November 2026, I’m taking on the challenge of a lifetime: a 36–48km trek across the Sahara Desert.
And I’m doing it for someone incredibly special —
My daughter, Dana.
Dana was just 8 years old, when she was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare and aggressive bone cancer. She faced every stage of her illness with unimaginable bravery. After months and months of intense, gruelling chemotherapy, she underwent a major operation — a quarter-body amputation that took her arm, collarbone, and shoulder blade. We hoped it would save her life.
But the cancer returned in her lungs, and we were told it was terminal.
Twelve months later, Dana lost her fight and fell asleep forever.
No family should ever have to walk that journey alone — and thanks to Derian House Children’s Hospice, we didn’t. They became our lifeline. Their compassion, care, and unwavering support carried us through the darkest moments of Dana’s illness, and they continue to be a pillar of strength for families like ours every single day.
That’s why we’re walking across the Sahara.
For Dana.
For every family facing the unimaginable.
And for Derian House — so they can continue offering the love, comfort, and specialist care that meant so much to us.
This trek will push us to our limits: four days of blistering heat, endless sand, and nearly 50km beneath the desert sun. But no challenge we face out there will ever compare to what Dana endured, or to what so many children at Derian House face every day.
If you’re able to donate — any amount, big or small — you’ll be helping Derian House continue their incredible work and honouring the memory of Dana, who inspired everyone who knew her.
Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.
❤️❤️❤️
In loving and honouring our memories of Dana.
