Story
In September I will be marking my two year anniversary with Mencap Cymru with my first ever skydive to raise money for a new sensory room in Bryn Siriol.
Bryn Siriol is a respite service, and funding is needed to replace the current sensory room which is now unusable.
It’s a 3-bedroom bungalow for 18-70 year olds. While in use those staying get to enjoy a range of activities, designed to feel like a holiday for them.
Having a functioning sensory room is important because they create a calming and safe space for individuals to explore their senses, develop social and coping skills and support long-term emotional wellbeing.
The new facility will be dedicated to Jan Kench, a well known and much loved local Mencap campaigner, who sadly passed away earlier this year.
