We’re raising £100,000 to fund a FibroScan machine through Nishkam SWAT’s Liver Health Project. This simple, non-invasive scan helps detect signs of liver damage early and will be used to provide free liver health checks in the community.

Story

In June 2024, I lost my father, Amrik Singh Rai, to advanced liver cancer. His diagnosis came too late, and treatment was no longer curative. This painful loss made me realise how silent and dangerous liver disease can be, and how crucial early detection really is.

Liver disease often has no symptoms until serious damage has occurred. A FibroScan is a simple, painless and non-invasive scan that can help detect early signs of liver damage. It measures liver stiffness and fat levels in just a few minutes.

Yet access to liver health checks remains limited, especially in underserved communities.

We are raising £100,000 to fund a FibroScan machine so we can offer free liver screenings to those who need them most. These checks give people the chance to understand their liver health and take action before it is too late.

Our Liver Screening Campaign is about raising awareness, improving access and helping prevent the heartbreak of late diagnosis for other families.
