Bath 50 Ultra Challenge 2026 · 28 March 2026 ·

MS-UK is here to support anyone affected by multiple sclerosis (MS), which affects over 150,000 people in the UK. We empower people with MS to live healthier and happier lives by improving the understanding of the condition and providing support where it is needed most.

Story

Em and Rach are taking on a 50km ultra march on 28th March 2026 in loving memory of Rachel’s Nan, Mary.

“My Nan passed away in 2021 while I was pregnant with Thea, but she truly lived life to the fullest. Nan was a huge part of all our lives — not only as a Nanny, but also as a Great Nanny — and her love shaped our family. The later years when nanny was suffering due to her MS, Willow was known as Nanny’s “little nurse” and would help care for her by peg feeding her and syringing her medication. Even on days when Nanny couldn’t speak she would light up at her little nurse Willow.

Nanny was diagnosed with MS in her early 20s, yet she went on to live a full and joyful life until she passed away at 78 years old. We are fundraising for MS UK, as MS continues to affect several of our loved ones today.

My Nan truly lived life to the fullest — she was known as “dancing on wheels” and was still dancing with my Grandad well into her 70s. He would twirl her around the dance floor in her wheelchair at country music festivals inspiring everyone with her strength.

Growing up, Nan and Grandad worked hard to manage her MS, trying new medications and committing to daily physiotherapy. Despite her challenges, Nan was always taking care of us — baking, laughing, and making memories. Their home was adapted so she could continue baking safely and doing the things she loved with us. She took us on seafront walks, and all of us grandchildren loved piling onto her scooter for rides.

This walk is our way of honouring Nan’s strength, positivity, and unconditional love, while helping to support vital services for those living with MS”

MS-UK was established in 1993, and is a national charity dedicated to empowering people with multiple sclerosis to make the most of today, and live life to the full.
