Story

This May, I’ll be taking on the Heart Route Strava Challenge as part of Team Women’s Aid.

Women’s Aid is the national charity working to end domestic abuse in the UK. They are a lifeline for survivors, providing vital digital and specialist support to those affected.

Domestic abuse can be difficult to recognise and understand, it thrives on confusion and can happen to anyone. It can take many forms including physical, emotional, economic and coercive control, which is at the core of all abuse and since 2021 children are also considered victims.

In the UK on average one women a week is killed by a current or former partner. Domestic abuse often escalates when a women tries to end the relationship, making leaving the most dangerous time for a women and post separation abuse can continue long after the relationship has ended. It is a major contributor to mental ill health for women and children.

Every donation to my fundraising page will help Women’s Aid continue their essential work supporting survivors
