Story

It was alleged that the LA Dodgers threatened a fan who picked up Shohei Ohtani's first home run ball.

"The Athletic" introduced what a fan named Ambaro Roman, who picked up Ohtani's first home run ball since joining the Dodgers on the 5th (Korea time).

Roman picked up Ohtani's home run ball when he went to watch the game between the San Francisco Giants and the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium on the 4th.

It was good to pick up the ball, but not after that.

The Athletic said, "The memorable moment turned into a stressful and confusing situation. He and her husband Alexis Valencia felt pressure from the Dodgers security staff and could be scammed," revealing how he was treated by the Dodgers and Ohtani.

Usually, a fan who picks up a homerun ball that is worth commemorating in the Major League Baseball gives the ball in exchange for a gift from the player in question. Lee Jung-hoo of the San Francisco Giants also gave an autographed ball and hat to the fan who hit his first homer, and created an unforgettable moment by taking a commemorative photo together.

However, they were not the couple. Dodgers bodyguards separated the couple and pressured them to give the ball to a very unfavorable condition, according to The Athletic.

The Athletic said Ohtani's first home run to the Dodgers is worth at least $100,000 if it goes up for auction, but the Dodgers forced him to trade it for two signed caps.

They also made threats. They threatened Roman with refusing to be certified if he took the ball home as it was. He had no choice but to accept the deal because he could not get paid without getting the ball certified.

"We're not hungry for money. It's a special moment, a special ball. I just wanted to be treated fairly," he said, expressing discontent with the Dodgers' treatment.

They eventually had to accept two signed hats, a signed bat and a signed ball and go home.

What was worse was that Ohtani, who hit a home run, didn't even meet them. In an interview after the game, Ohtani said he was able to talk to his fans and get the ball back, but the parties claimed they didn't meet him.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers club told The Athletic, "The Dodgers club is willing to have additional conversations with fans regarding this deal."
